Xbox Game Pass confirms that Sopa will come to the service in 2024, with the news coming out of the recent CCXP23 convention in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The Xbox roundup of the event describes the game as an “emotional narrative adventure about the things we pass along,” and it is made in Colombia by StudioBando.
Xbox, as a whole, had a pretty massive presence at CCXP23. Not only did fans get treated to the first official Fallout TV series trailer, but fans got updates on Firefight: King of the Hill in Halo Infinite, a season 2 trailer for the Halo series, confirmation of Minecraft‘s Jurassic World Adventures DLC, and a handful of other reveals and updates. Of course, Xbox Game Pass wasn’t going to be left behind at the event.

Sopa is inspired by the animation style of Hayao Miyazaki, Spirited Away, Coco, and The Little Prince. In it, protagonist Miho is transported to a fantasy world after attempting to get a potato for his grandmothers’ soup. This leads to adventures across multiple biomes, but every time Miho returns an ingredient to the kitchen, things have changed. Players can expect 3D environments set in South America, a captivating story, various exploration treks and puzzles, fun side quests and collectibles, and more. As it stands, it seems like Sopa also promises a gameplay experience lasting 12 or so hours.
Sopa is listed for a Q2 2024 release date on Steam, meaning that unless there are any delays now and then, fans can expect to see the title relatively early next year. In the meantime, though, there is plenty left for Xbox Game Pass this December. Goat Simulator is confirmed for December 7, Against the Storm hits PC Game Pass on December 8, Tin Hearts drops on the service on December 12, and Far Cry 6 is the last currently confirmed game, coming on December 14. Subscribers can expect a reveal of new games then, but it might be that they will get treated to this news a little sooner, if not for more 2024 games.
Xbox has been advertising its presence at The Game Awards 2023, telling Game Pass subscribers to tune in and leading many to believe that more than Baldur’s Gate 3‘s Xbox release date will be revealed. Xbox has used Geoff Keighley’s stage for massive reveals before, but it was somewhat lacking in 2022. It could be that it plans to make up for that with its presence in 2023, and at least to some degree, Xbox Game Pass is going to be involved.
