Roughing It!

Camping is a recreational activity that involves going out and experiencing nature. The participants known as “campers” will leave the comfort of their homes and “rough it” in the great outdoors. There are a lot of fun things you can do while camping. During the day you can go hiking and explore new things and at night you can sing songs or tell stories around a cosy camp fire. Camping isn’t just fun but it is also good for our bodies.

We’ll be getting a lot of exercise from hiking and climbing. It is also good for us in a mental and spiritual manner. We can relax and ease our minds away from urban tribulations. Camping is also a great bonding experience. Whether you’re camping with your family, you’re partner or camping with your friends, you’ll get closer after sharing this amazing experience. And if you choose to go camping alone, it’ll be a great way to know yourself a little better. Though camping may be a fun and beneficial activity, it can also be dangerous. When you’re camping in a forest it is obvious you’ll encounter problems like wild animals, poison ivies and getting lost.

Since you’re in the middle of the forest and help would be miles away, if you get hurt no one would be around to give you assistance. Camping should be enjoyed not feared. Therefore we should always remember a set of safety tips to keep us away from any problems. Almost remember to bring a your phone around just in case you get lost or you hurt yourself and it is also a good idea to carry a first aid kit around. If you’re not an experienced camper, or if you’re camping for the first time, it wouldn’t hurt to bring some friends with you who are. Since you’ll be camping in a forest it is not impossible for you to get lost in the twists and turns of Mother Nature. If you ever get lost and to add salt to the wound, you don’t have your phone with you, you have to remember these basic tips:

Stay calm

Don’t panic. You’ll only give yourself scary and impractical thoughts if you panic. It may sound hard, since you’re by yourself in the middle of the forest, but you need to calm down.

Stay where you are

If you’re with other campers you can be sure they are looking for you the minute they figured out you’re no longer part of the group so it is safe to stay in the same spot so they can find you easily.

Familiarize yourself

Take a good look around your surroundings, pick out your memories and try to see if anything looks familiar.

Do something

Attract attention to help the others look for you. Create a fire, if you have your mirror with you aim it at the sun, if you have a gun around shoot three rounds the sound may attract people.

Survive

If you know you’re gonna be there overnight you better start working on shelter. You can make one out of dirt and leaves. Look for food, but remember to leave a trail back to your spot so you don’t go deeper into the woods and get more lost, and finally make a camp fire to keep you warm
