True Genuine Sincere Worship Opens Up Doors Which Are Unlikely to Be Opened by Any Other Avenue

Worship, which is true and genuine and sincere, is one of the highest activities in which any human being can be involved. We were looking at worship, and we have been studying worship and reminding ourselves of the supreme importance of worship, and in the Scriptures we see worship in action in heaven and on earth.

Worship is different from singing and praise. We can arise to sing, or play, and that can become praise because of the words, and there are these occasions when we move into worship, and that is very different, and people realise that, and can sense and discern that.

On these occasions we break through any barriers and we are fellowshipping with our living loving God.

We see worship throughout the whole of the Scriptures. King David certainly knew the importance of worship as well as many other aspects when approaching God, and all this is tied up with prayer.

Animal sacrifices had been part of Old Testament worship, but David saw something much deeper than animal sacrifice.

Sacrifices were required because of various sins, but David had that desire and longing to approach Almighty God with a pure heart and clean hands. He certainly wanted to put things rights after that appallingly sinful episode involving Uriah the Hittite and Bathsheba. The details of this sordid sinfulness is comprehensively recorded in the second book of Samuel in Chapters 11 and 12.

Following being in depths, and no wonder, David arises and returns to worship.

Take not your Holy Spirit from me was his plea and cry in Psalm 51. David knew the severity of the consequences if the Holy Dove flew away and departed. He had seen what happened in his predecessor King Saul.

There are certain experiences we should want to avoid at all costs.

Worship was never to be a disorderly free for all, but it was led by those who were appointed for that specific task and role and ministry. That is laid out so clearly in various passages of Scripture.

We read of joyful singing to balanced musical accompaniment or leading.

We have David’s words but not his tunes! We have many of his lyrics but none of his melodies!

Why have David’s songs and words lasted so long? They are about God and dwelling with God. Psalm 23 being one prime example, and David knew that one day the Gentiles would be included.

What matters in worship is the Presence of Almighty God.

The Ark was regarded as the earthly footstool of God’s heavenly throne. Now, that is serious thought or revelation.

This is another aspect of worship which we can tend to overlook. When we are involved in true genuine sincere worship there can revelation from Almighty God which a man might never otherwise receive. That raises worship to an exceedingly high level.

Let me encourage you to become a worshipper through Jesus Christ who opens up the very door to our gracious Heavenly Father.
