Why I’m Worried About 4-More Years Of the Obama Administration and Military Readiness

Okay so, as a young man I grew up on military bases, Naval Air Stations, in various places on this planet. I can remember how our military was gutted from far-left-leaning political forces. Well, it’s happening again. I need not remind anyone of the Presidential Debate in late October of 2012 when Barack Obama told Mitt Romney that we didn’t need any more ships in our US Navy because we have better technology today.

Well, that might have played well to socialist-leaning voters who want the government to only provide social programs, but that won’t keep our country very safe, nor our allies, and it surely opens the US up to be challenged by our enemies and the occasional rogue dictator.

During that previous period as a young man, my dad was moving up in rank, and being an accomplished combat jet attack pilot, they gave him his own squadron. While he was the CO (commanding officer) of that squadron of A-7 Corsair II’s he watched his budget being cut more and more, eventually it was tough for them to fly all their aircraft, fuel costs, maintenance costs, etc. They were cut back to bare bones. While they may have found a way, they were barely operationally ready at any given time due to these cuts.

The pilots had a tough time staying qualified and didn’t get enough flying time to stay as proficient as they’d need to be if there were another war, and this was towards the end of the Cold War, so anything could have happened. The Air Force had a similar problem, often with brand new latest technology aircraft “hangar queens” sitting pretty inside on display, but they didn’t fly them much, they didn’t have the budget monies. So, what good were they? You see, I fear this is happening again.

We’ve reduce our military any further we will be at the point that we won’t be able to fight two major wars on dissimilar sides of the planet at the same time. Having a 1.5 war US Navy hardly makes any sense, and that certainly wouldn’t be wise, nor would it protect our nation, our allies, our interests, or the free people of this planet.

The other day, I got done reading an interesting RAND Corporation research paper titled; “Naval Aviation Budgeting – Cost Adjustment Sheets and the Flying Hour Program,” by Edward G. Keating, Sarah H. Bana, Michael Boito (50 pages, ISBN: 978-08330-768-85, Doc # TR-1282-NAVY).

In reading this, all I could think of is that the Democrats and the Obama Administration is going to make the same mistake again. A very risky mistake, as they gut our US military and starve it of the operational resources it needs. There is no honor in that, and I am sickened to see it. It’s wrong, and we must remain strong – Peace Through Strength. Please consider all this and think on it.
