7 Steps for Becoming Happy and Making Money in the Process

Making money, and becoming happy in the process? Wasn’t money supposed to be the root of all evil? Well, if we think about it, most of the same principles for making money are the same as they are for becoming happy. Here is a list of seven keys for making money and becoming happy in the process…

1. Think happiness first, then money will follow

When I was younger, I was a business major in college (which I graduated in). I used to go to my business professors, and tell them how I wanted to get into a new business venture each time I saw them. There were two problems with this. (1) I’m a writer first, not an entrepreneur. (2) Therefore, I shouldn’t have been a business major in the first place. The point being that I was chasing money first, and thought that the happiness would follow, in both instances. The point is I never failed in any of those grandiose business ventures. The reason for this is that I never got started.

If you want to become truly rich (i.e. in mind, spirit, and monetarily), you have to do something that you love. Whether it be painting, cleaning, baking or writing, if you do that which you love, the money will follow. If it doesn’t, as for nothing is guaranteed in life, then at least you could say that you tried to live your dreams, but keep trying, and eventually it will happen. Remember, there’s nothing noble about conquering the world, and losing your soul in the process.

2. Utilize the power of your subconscious mind

Your nervous system consists of two parts, a subconscious and a conscious part. The conscious is when you do something while being conscious of what you’re doing, such as tying your shoe, writing, hugging someone, etc. All these actions happen when you’re thinking. The subconscious actions occur when you’re not thinking, such as your heart beating, your breathing, etc.

Let’s now illustrate the difference between the conscious and subconscious minds, and how they interact…You first start to learn how to drive a car. You’re clumsy. Everything you’re doing is extremely conscious and robotic, put on the accelerator, check the speed, look at the lanes so you don’t weave, etc. Now when you’re driving, you’re simultaneously putting on your make-up, talking on your cell-phone, eating breakfast, etc. You don’t even think about it. You do it all subconsciously.

Whenever you work on a problem, such as a job, or a personal problem, you can work on it yourself consciously, clumsily and robotically. Another, a lot easier way to go about it is to work on the problem using your subconscious. Ask infinite intelligence, or that silent voice in your head for answers. Once you activate your subconscious or that “silent voice” you evoke an infinite intelligence that will help get you to your goal.

3. Visualize

Visualization is perhaps the fastest way to activate your subconscious mind. A good exercise to try is to visualize each of your goals, each goal for 30 minutes as having been completed. For instance, if your goal is to get a job, visualize yourself working in that job. Visualize the new car you’ll be driving, etc. As you evoke your subconscious, it will send you instructions, or “hunches,” to try to get you to your goal. Moreover, with these instructions you can reach your goal – if you only listen and apply them.

4. Set goals

Without goals, we perish. This was illustrated by Viktor Frankl, who was in a concentration camp. In it, he found that the prisoners who survived were ones who had a goal: a reason for living. Obviously then, having goals is essential for life and happiness. However, setting goals is also essential for making money. When it comes to money, jobs, starting companies, enterprises, etc. you need a target to aim at. How much money do I want to make? What position do I want to be in? If you don’t have a target or goal, then you will be walking in circles, and you will get nowhere. How could you aim without a target? If you have a target for what you want, you’ll be able to program your subconscious to tell it what you want, and you will rapidly approach your goal. Believe in yourself and listen to that inner voice inside. The combination of belief, the subconscious and action is omnipotent.

5. Think positively

Positive thinking evokes your subconscious. The reasoning for this is found in a parable…Your conscious thoughts are seeds and your subconscious are the plants that grow from those seeds. Whatever seeds you plant in your subconscious mind whether they be positive or negative, are immediately taken by the subconscious mind and planted there – germinating into a plant in the subconscious mind.

If the seed is positive, it will germinate into a positive plant that will bring on good results in the conscious mind and your outer world. Good things will happen to the person, as the subconscious will send instructions to the conscious mind to do something positive. These instructions will come to you in that silent voice that will tell you what to do. If the instructions are negative, then subconsciously you will be programmed to fail and run into unfortunate circumstances, as the silent voice will bring you to self-destructive behavior.

Moreover, if you want happiness, then plant positive seeds. What job do you want? What friends do you want? What kind of person do you want to marry? Visualize the tasks as having been completed. Always remember, every thought you have consciously is a seed. The subconscious can’t tell the difference between, a positive or a negative seed, it just lets the seed grow in the subconscious mind. Hence, watch your self-talk, and what you tell other people about yourself with vigilance because that which you say may soon become your reality.

6. Believe in yourself and in others

This is important in being able to set goals and getting your subconscious working towards your goals. However, believing in yourself and others is also essential for having good people skills. People skills, according to Dale Carnegie account for 85% of success on the job, they are also essential in being happy. One man or woman cannot be content by himself or herself, he needs somebody to make them happy, whether it be friends, soul mates, or life partners is irrelevant. Hence, believing in yourself and in others is essential for making friends, being happy and having a satisfactory income. These two factors should not be left to chance, for their importance is immeasurable.

7. Be bold

Always remember Goethe famous quote: “Whatever you can do or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.” This quote doesn’t need any explanation as it’s straight to the point. If you want to make money, or become happy, you’re going to have to do something about it. It’s good to read books on it; however, you won’t get any results to speak of, until you take action. You won’t be able to get these skills through osmosis between you and the book paper. You can only gain these skills through this “weird and wacky experiment” we call life.

I can’t stress this enough, but now you must do! Visualize, evoke your subconscious, be bold and try to live your dreams. Follow the instructions from infinite intelligence, and you can have the best of both worlds: be happy and make money. In fact, the instructions will be so precise, that if you follow them, you won’t know how it all turned out as if by “coincidence.” However, you’ll know that it wasn’t a coincidence for you just programmed your subconscious and followed its instructions. Follow that little voice in your head, and all your hopes and dreams will move from your subconscious to germinate in your conscious mind, and then they will manifest into your outer world as you follow its instructions. Soon enough, you will learn that life is just a game, but it’s a game you can win, if you just follow the subconscious’ instructions.
