Xbox announced its major year-end Countdown Sale will begin on December 17, featuring over a thousand offers for games and DLC. Xbox and PC gamers may also look forward to a series of seasonal in-game events and updates during “the Season of Xbox” celebration.
Every year, Xbox hosts a slew of year-end sales, allowing players to save on an assortment of games during the holiday season. Xbox is currently hosting a Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale for Activision Blizzard games such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Diablo 3, and Diablo 4. However, gamers may want to wait before buying any of the discounted Activision Blizzard games, since these titles could potentially come to Xbox Game Pass in the near future. In addition, even more Xbox games will be discounted before the end of the year in the Countdown Sale.
Rumor: One of the Xbox 360’s Best Indie Games Could Be Getting a Remake
After more than a decade, one of the best indie games on the Xbox 360 is rumored to be getting a remake that should be announced soon.
In a new Xbox Wire post, Xbox confirmed the Countdown Sale will be available from December 17 to January 2 with approximately 1,400 discounts on games, DLC, and bundles on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The exact titles that will be discounted have not been confirmed yet, but Xbox notes that it will be the “largest tentpole sale” of 2023. Alongside the sale, Xbox will be hosting the Season of Xbox with “new characters, levels, skins, modes and more” across over 50 games. Games participating in the Season of Xbox include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Dead by Daylight, Rainbow Six Siege, Dying Light 2, and Just Dance 2024. More updates will be revealed during the Season of Xbox each week, including new Xbox Game Pass additions.

Moreover, Xbox confirms that its Microsoft Rewards program will offer easy ways of earning points, so gamers can save more on upcoming purchases by redeeming Xbox gift cards with their points. Xbox also reiterates that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can save 10% off any add-ons for Xbox Game Pass titles, including DLC discounted during the Countdown Sale. The 10% off DLC discount will remain active for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers after the sale ends on January 2, however.
The Countdown Sale presents an excellent opportunity for gamers to catch up on some of 2023’s biggest games on Xbox. What’s more, the possibility of a limited-time sale coinciding with The Game Awards 2023 remains, potentially bringing savings on select titles before the Countdown Sale begins.
